St Patrick's, Anderston
St. Patrick's Church was erected on the site of the former Blythswood Foundry, which stood on the corner of North Street and William Street. The foundation stone was laid, appropriately enough, on Saint Patrick's Day (17th March) 1896. The new building was completed on 2nd June 1898.
In September 2007 the Ordinary Form began to be celebrated in Latin in St Patrick's each Sunday; we are grateful to the present parish priest the Very Rev. Robert Canon Hill for allowing the church to be used for this purpose.
St Patrick's is very near Charing Cross railway station on the Glasgow Queen Street line (handy for trains from Edinburgh and the north-Glasgow suburban routes). Note that Anderston railway station (on the Glasgow Central line), across the road from St Patrick's, is closed on Sundays. St Patrick's is also adjacent to the M8 over the Kingston Bridge, and so is very accessible by car.
